I take the holders as something that impact walkers and creating city image . Many of them seems decorative for me . I also found connection with historical holders for statues .

In this project I erased the text to show the posters as a paper material with no information meaning . Showing on what we are really looking at .

Adverts in Chisinau

There is not really a law for posting posters on the streets of Chisinau . Trees , busstops are covered with home made xeroxes . The Minister of the city said the people must advertise , when asked about high polution of these posters . Bus stops have no official advertisings posted , because its a place for xeroxes . Probably thats why high billboards raised so much in the city , that no one reach their area . But theres an unwritten law to not post on private properties . Have no fear to post your own during the day in the places where it already is .

Official citylights don't advertise much globalised stuff , they're more propaganda styled , showing Chisinau , moldavian singers or domestic stuff . Professional regural advertising is missing . Billboards are more like yellow pages for products . Many billboards are plain white waiting for customer to pay , or advertising of a commercial event stays hanged long after the event happened . These conditions reflects on whole market scene which works often right on the street by giving flyers , offering transport , selling secondhand items . Overall there is more stuff right on the street than in shops .

Blocks-of-Flats

I am a fan of soviet blocks-of-flats and I saw some large ones in Chisinau . We don't have such high and structurised buildings from this era in our country , so these ones are "real soviet" for me . Most of them aren't renovated since they'r made , giving them a strong nostalgy feeling . Material and visual is somehow decorative for me , together with other objects in city like steel rails , the flower holders laying on the streets . The balconies are rounded and divided in many ways on one building . Lower blocks have a ornament on the top and also balconies raised to various geometrical shapes . Best districts are Botanica , Rîșcani , Ciocana , Buiucani but all city is covered with it .

What I like about them is that many of them are "open to public" like I used to remember as a child. Now at my home every entrances are securely closed - they are renovated with new lifts and outfit which looks horrible - new in old .

Like a public space , side steps are presenting a place for hide and for me also a gallery .

Other thing I catch from beginning were those old windows looking like a place for storage of things , or anything but a window. In Slovakia there is huge boom of plastic windows at its end , but here its maybe a song of future . In Chisinau I don't really think the blocks will soon renovate . Things here just go in cheaper way which is good .

These pictures mirrors the the city through surface of the ground . Chisinau is full of trees but not much grassy fields . All the floor of the city is dusty and pushed by walking .

Mixing Russian & Romanian communities

This project is about mixing two communities/cultures living in one city/country .

There are two official languages in Moldova . Both can be used . In TV, there are russian and romanian channels , two text on every product or info sign . There was a talkshow where commentator talks one language and the guest used another .

Azbuka is common used in Moldova next to romanian language
